hydrogen engine

So my boss at work (and his buddy) are building a hydrogen powered motor, sort of a side job. I get to add technical details and actually program the machine tools and make the parts. The weird thing is that it will run on distilled water. I find it disturbing that the whole concept is so simple and yet nobody else has tried this. They have already hooked the hydrogen maker thingie (that's the technical term, have no doubt) up to a car and driven it around USING PLAIN WATER!

There were some drawbacks to the system that we (they) are working on. Water rusts standard car engines and the motor oil is difficult to separate from the clean water. This new motor will not use pistons, nor will it require (hardly) any oil. All (most) of the reclaimed water from the combustion process will be cooled and reused to make more hydrogen. Simple and efficient. This new motor won't have the torque to run a car but it will be strong enough to run a generator big enough to power a house.

Still in the prototype stage as of now, but we tried it with compressed air and it works just fine.

First test was successful. Needs a little tweaking as the tolerances were just a bit too tight, caused too much heat from friction. Gonna hook it up to a Honda generator this weekend.

For a hydrogen motor? PSH, this is fine. If you guys are setting up a webcam, definitely let us know. Make sure the webcam has a high ability to display brilliant reds and oranges, though.

The high speed rotating disc was smoking and contaminating the water. I have to mill the stator piece a little smaller to facilitate friction free turning. Sorry, no webcam. But I will keep fresh updates here.

Recut the rotor today. My boss said his garage still stinks from the smoke from last week's test. He's gonna take it home and try again. Details soon.
