Oklahoma Video Game Expo (OVGE)

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

I got the following mail from Flack:
The Oklahoma Video Game Expo (OVGE) will be June 18, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
That's all I needed to read. I am gonna attend this thing!

I am gonna fly into Oklahoma City Friday night and drive up with Flack to the show, which is on Saturday. Sunday I am either gonna fly back to Denver, or I am gonna rent a truck and leave with his Centipede. (He knows about this possibility, so nobody click on the "report post" button please, a-holes.)

Who else is gonna be there!!?

We had a group meeting and decided that nobody here gets this joke.

I do. Tony Bennett is a heartless man every time he leaves San Francisco since that's where he left it.

No. Unlike Three Dog Night, "I've never been to Oklahoma", but I left my ability to walk in Arlington, Virginia since that's the last place I had it. I go back many times but I've not been able to find it.

Well, I'll be there.

OVGE is one of the best "small" game shows, and I'm not just saying that because it's 100 miles from home. Its only competition was AGE (Atari Gaming Expo) in Austin, which hasn't taken place in years. It's big enough that people come from New Mexico, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas every year.

Pages two and three of this album contain pictures from every previous OVGE. Note that the similarly named OEGE is a completely different show.

OVGE always has a little bit of everything -- old computers, old consoles, new consoles, arcade games, and toys. It's a good time.

That's because the AGE is a bunch of BITCHES.

Haw haw haw!

I am really looking forward to it. I've never been to Oklahoma. A new state! This will make the third new city for me recently. Recently I have been to Boston, then Seattle and now Oklahoma City / Tulsa. (I know they are like 2 hours apart, but lookit the Yankee displaying his ignorance for all to see!)

I am a FAN of new cities.

And I will be hauling as much old video game stuff as I can out of that expo.

Come on, can we tone down this sort of stuff, please? You can make your point without resorting to name-calling and vulgarity.

Does that include old hookers? If not, it's probably not that much of a good time!

Well, I guess that confirms that at least that one does have old hookers then!

Jonsey, do me a favor and go see the OKC memorial to the victims of the Alfred C. Murrah bombing. My late friend Andrea told me it's quite a thing to see. Especially the chairs.

I don't know if Ben ever went to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the mall in DC when he lived here but it is also stirring. I remember finding someone who was either named Paul W. Robinson or Paul William Robinson among the more than 50,000 dead, it really touched me.

Take some pictures or video, I don't think I'll have the opportunity to go to OKC and I'd like to see it. "Especially the chairs :) ."

The drinkin i did on my last big gig
it made my voice go low.
They said that they liked the younger sound
When they let me go.
So i drifted on down to Tulsa, Oklahoma
to do me a late night talk show
Now i worked my way down home again via Boise, Idaho.
Thats how this business goes.

One man's trash is another man's treasure, that's why garage sales have remained popular since back when the chariot was modern transportation, or why eBay is the most popular website on the planet.

Yeah! If the fuckin' idiot can't make his point without being a goddamn foul-mouthed cocksucker, we don't need the shithead moron around here! Am I right or am I right?

Just had a chance to catch up with this thread.

Is the expo even on any more? Or did the terrible posts in here kill it off?

Never before has this been more appropriate: it's still on, like Donkey Kong!

I told the organizer you were flying in from Denver and to treat you like the VIP you are. He would like a small paragraph bio from you to put on the website.

OVGE

Welcome Robb and Rob!

Post by OVGE »

It is very appropriate Rob as an actual DK upright is scheduled to be a part of the OVGE arcade setup at this years event!

I've already posted the info about Robb and Rob on the website.

Look forward to meeting you Mr. Sherwin and with having to put up with "Flack" again..ugh.. ;-)
