OK, it's not ideal but I like it much better than the default phpBB one.
I'm currently trying to find different ones, though, so toss the salad if you know of a phpBB 2.0 theme archive. There only seem to be like a dozen in existence at the official site. Hm.
Or, I may keep this one and switch the Playstation logos with Mr Bandwidth faces. Dunno.

I appreciate having a black backround; but if you're gonna do that the dark blue has GOTTA GO.
Besides, Phruitcake is slightly colour blind and won't see a god damn thing.
Or, keep the text, it's coo, and lighten the backround some.
I know you want it oldschool, but how about oldschool for people with the standard human vision-equipment?

Alright, I'll see if I can improve that. I am a big fan of people with standard human vision equipment.
The colors aren't ideal for this, but I do like how they have the front page laid out.
The "Jolt Country" graphic up on top looks pretty bad to boot. I'll have to re-do that, it looks like it ran into compression hell and became much worse for the wear after an attempt to make it bigger.

No, believe me, I appreciate all comments good or bad. The color scheme for the old dial-up Jolt Country BBS was basically cyan on black so I tried to duplicate that a bit here (and it's why I liked this particular scheme). But if it means that someone can't see anything due to monitor variance, that's something that should come out before I open the board to the public.
I tried to get the messages from the first iteration. No luck yet. Pinback had a delightful commentary on pie in the Pleasure Wharf that I don't know we could ever really replace.

Okay, yes, this place definetley rocks more now.
Unfortunatley, what really lets the side down and makes it feel unprofessional is the slightly coloric version of the JC logo. I reckon if you tried compressing it again / do it from scratch (as might be necessary) then the entire place would definetley feel more Warez-palacey.

Yeah, I'll rework that.
bug, are you saying that it's hard to read the text that is displayed when you are reading messages? Or when you're writing one? Or perhaps both? Just want to be sure. I can put more contrast there.
In a couple hours I'll be at work and I'll be able to look at this BBS in a dark monitor that I have there. (Er, it's a monitor that just happens to be tinted towards darker colors, not that it broods or something.)

It really is the beggining of nostalgia-month. Just found my old black keyboard that went with my black monitor & black mouse*, along with the fucking Behemoth of a black PC tower I used to have.
Oh, Binnaire, how I miss you.
Y'know how it is when you just replace it bit by bit and then...
It's not the same thing.
*Hot Damn, was I cool or what?

Jesus. OK, I'm logged into work. This is DARK AS FAWK. I'll have to change this ASAP.
(edited to say: it was previously dark as fawk. If you are reading this now, hopefully it is no longer the case.)
Regarding mice: the neatest mouse I have ever used, in terms of looks, is one currently on my work desk. If you bought Virtual Pool by Interplay they would include a mouse in it that looked like half of an eight ball. (The mouse has to be flat, natch, so that's why it looks split in half, for the flat surface.) However actually using it is a pain in the butt as this particular one took a fall or something. Anyway back in the Cyrix days we would buy game and test them against our CPUs, which is why we had it and why I grabbed the mouse as killer entertainment software booty.
When I got hired for this job as boy programmer I took said Virtual Pool mouse with me. RESOURCED REALLOCATED, CAPTAIN!

bug cracks me right up. That makes all of this worthwhile.
OK, last remaining issue is this: Apparently I cannot change the background color of the Username / Password entry box. I wanted all the text on the website to be pure white. However, the background for that entry box is pure white. I need to figure out how to change that so people can see what they are typing in there.
In the meantime I moved the font color to the lightest gray I could. It doesn't look great, but when I figure out how to change the entry box color, I'll move fonts back to FFFFFF... "bright white."
I should also state that in the above post of mine, I was working at the same company just a different group. So I didn't steal the Virtual Pool mouse. I mean, what kind of kleptomaniac would steal a $2 mouse? Not I, I assure you.

Jack, it's good to see you here. This place can now start ROCKIN'!
And oh yes there will be avatars, Mr Antonion "Anti" Avatar. I am planning on having the size limit at about 1600x1200 and color depth at 30 billion colors. That's roughly twice as many colors as you can see. But, with some users having compound eyes (i.e., a bug) ya gotta do what you gotta do.

He is also a communist. a FILTHY, FILTHY COMMUNIST! Okay, maybe he's not, but he's Russian at least. Why the fuck would you go on an ENglish-speaking website, say "hello" in english, and link you to a blog and then only speak fucking Russian on the blog? What the hell is wrong with people? Well I'm assuming it's Russian, actually it's probably Chinese or soemthing because of all the fucking random unreadable characters on it.
