Why is preview different from the result when rendered?

Messages posted, when reviewed in Preview, have a certain appearance. But, when saved and re-shown after the submit button is clicked, the format is not the same, it tends to display it differently. This means, when I count lines in Preview, it's not the same when the message is rendered after the Submit button is pressed. Any idea why and how do I comply with the 8-line limit when the program lies to me and sometimes pushes an 8-line display in Preview sometimes 9 or 11 lines when rendered?
