Having used a trackball with a scroll wheel exclusively for several months now I can honestly explain the problems with them.
The major problem is the lack of fine-grained control. The biggest problem is when handling a horizontal scroll bar, you have to hold down the left button on the thumb*, and spin the ball at the same time.
With a mouse, to scroll you hold the left button on the thumb and use your wrist to move the mouse.
A trackball does a good job for perhaps 90-95% of most work, which is easier in many cases. It's the last fucking 5% that causes such a goddam problem.

* I don't mean I have to hold it down with my thumb. The button on a scroll bar that is moved to change position in the scrolling area is called a "thumb."

This ought to be good.Tdarcos wrote:Having used a trackball with a scroll wheel exclusively for several months now I can honestly explain the problems with them.
Pointer sensitivity is controlled by the OS, dumbass. The major problem is the lack of fine-grained control.
Not All Trackballs. The biggest problem is when handling a horizontal scroll bar, you have to hold down the left button on the thumb*, and spin the ball at the same time.
Right. And with mice you have to keep picking it up and moving it, which is dumb. With a mouse, to scroll you hold the left button on the thumb and use your wrist to move the mouse.
These are made-up problems that you read from a fortune cookie.A trackball does a good job for perhaps 90-95% of most work, which is easier in many cases. It's the last fucking 5% that causes such a goddam problem.

This is where you lose all credibility. Nobody who has their mouse set up correctly has had to lift and move it since about 1997. You are terrible at mice, and because of that, you are terrible at action games.Ice Cream Jonsey wrote:Right. And with mice you have to keep picking it up and moving it, which is dumb.
Why you refuse to admit this, nobody will ever understand.
