Re: I can't believe Tdarcos outlived....
My buzzer post was written stone-cold sober, and I told my wife I did it.
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

Which I have already admitted I got wrong. And as I pointed out elsewhere, I was confused by mistaking Maureen McGovern in Airplane! who was parodying Helen Reddy in Airport 1975. That's one I'm buletproof - or in your case, buzzer proof - over, as Helen Reddy did play a singing nun in Airport 1975.
That actually makes it worse, as you have now killed any excuse for your response other than regular meanness, as opposed to a drunken stupor. I guess your ability to be polite is another thing I've outlived...pinback wrote: Wed Oct 07, 2020 6:07 pm My buzzer post was written stone-cold sober, and I told my wife I did it.

I offer no excuse for my response, because it was a great and hilarious response.

I have to take pinback's side on this, calling out Tdarcos for being wrong or crippled is always funny and pinback's buzzer response has become a cherished classic.

Ah man. I always put him in the same category Stanton Friedman. The unknown is always the unknown until some quack claims to know it all. These were the kind of people that cut the BS.

Does that mean The Amazing Randi's offer of a million dollars to any psychic who can prove that they really are one dies with him?
I can guess Flaqck's response. "All the guy has to do to prove it is get Randi's ghost to give her or him the bank account number and pin code, and they'll win the money."

She was in Blazing Saddles, one of my favorite Mel Brooks movies right after Spaceballs.

David Prowse
In sixth grade one of my friends told me that the guy who played Darth Vader did it for free because we never got to see his face. I believed him then but later I realized he was making it up. I would believe anything as a kid.

Re: I can't believe Tdarcos outlived....
I have five carded Star Wars figures that were autographed by the actors, and David Prowse is one of those five. (The others are R2-D2, C-3P0, Boba Fett, and Chewbacca -- guys who only appear in the movies wearing a mask were a lot cheaper to get.) He was pretty bummed to learn that his voice was dubbed (legend says he learned about it opening night) and was upset when they didn't use his face in Return of the Jedi during the unmasking scene. I always felt bad that Prowse had exited the franchise on bad terms (he was eventually banned from official Star Wars events) and never seemed to be as wealthy or revered as many of the other actors.
When I was a kid, my dad got me this hardback book called "Monsters and Villains" that had pictures from tons of horror movies. One of the pictures was David Prowse in one of the '70s Hammer Frankenstein movies and my dad and written in ink above the picture "Darth!" I got a real kick a few years later when I learned that the bodybuilding bodyguard in A Clockwork Orange was played by David Prowse. It was so neat as a kid to see what "Darth Vader" really looked like without his costume.
