Tabbed browsing is great because my fiancee doesn't understand it. She loves to click on each window to see what I'm doing on the internet but she has no idea that there are three tabs of porn hiding right in front of her face.

I hope next time you go down on her she's smirking because there are 3 tabs of someone else's dna, right in front of your face.

You still said "I would," implying that you'd do it in the future, numbnuts.
Yes, I'd download the program and not find the music I want with it. I'm stating future facts here, WRITE THEM DOWN!

"You would download the thing and not find it?"
:( I still don't understand how using 'could' would have evaded this criticism. I don't see how it's not about my lack of proper nouns and insinuates that I downloaded something and can't find it on my computer. If what you're doing here involves grammar, and if I in fact have no understanding of that concept, just cut it out.
Yeah, so shut your mouth? This is really weird, you bitch about something based on how it used to be. Not to mention JQW was reccomending a client BEFORE bitorrent existed or some silly shit.
JQW has requirements for software that are usually the complete opposite of mine. For instance, I don't have any patience for browser windows loading, so I use IE. I also hate "tabbed" browsing. He has time to kill and loves "fagged" browsing. So you can see how we'd differ. I'll deal with him down below.
Well, mine only takes time to load up because I have it set to save what I was looking at last. Though, haha, fagged.

I didn't say popular downloads of popular songs. I'm probably still running on ratio from when I seeded "The Vandals - Christmas with the Vandals 'Oi! To the world'". Why don't you up Hall and Oates rather than parroting a retard you know from the Internet?
I love how *I'm* the one parroting here, in a conversation I was an active member of on a different website. NOBODY ELSE WANTED the shit I was grabbing from Oink. Christ man, I'm not a monster. I didn't sit there with a lone digit over the left trackball button, just waiting to disconnect the exact instant the last byte made it to my computer. But nobody wanted anything from "Rabbitt" or "Depeche Mode" or whoever else I grabbed. They didn't want it and your suggestion is apparently for me to:
Whatever, maybe the entire "I GOT BANNED! *HIGH FIVE* NT" thing was entirely in my head.
1) Keep it up indefinitely
Big fucking deal if no one wants it, right?
2) Go grab shit I don't want, but is "popular" so I can maintain a ratio
You've gotta want something up there that has a shitload of people after it. Hell, maybe ... try downloading something new?
Man, you're a goddamn retard. This isn't putting shit up on an FTP. The Bit Torrent Guy, Graham Torrent, found a solution that used people like me to his advantage. I don't like having my network "open" -- call it OCD or stupidity or whatever you want. I want my behavior (download and run) to not change. Graham made it so that my behavior HELPS other people, which is genius. In doing so, he conclusively proved that people who care about ratios are dumbfucks and if you care about them, Worm, you're as stupid as the retards running Oink.
:( So this is still about you pretending to be some kind of revolutionary right? I'm glad you're reading this like it's a pro-asshole argument, rather than a 'don't explicity deny yourself every service anyone you disagree with provides based on some petty sherwin-ethical stand' argument. It's totally the former.

I still don't get this "download and run" concept, where are you going? Unless you're running ten torrents a night you can pretty much do fine by running the shit at night. If you really wanted to get CARAZY, you could limit your upstream and just do other shit on your computer.

If I can download from oink, never think about my ratio, and be perfectly fine, great for me, right?

If, when you make that attempt a ringing noise errupts in your ears and the room starts to spin, we can agree that you're insane?
That wasn't an Internet-only remix. That was what they PLAYED on the radio. It was on the album. It was 3rd Eye Blind. "When I See You," if I remember right.
No, it really WAS NOT what was played on the radio. You posted an MP3 which had the normal song intro and looped a 5 second refrain for the rest of the entire song. After awhile you found the real song, which was horrible, but believably horrible. I cannot find the thread, because you're a commie.
What? I heard it on the radio, in Longmont, Colorado, on the way to the Burrito Kitchens for lunch. If you find the thread you'll realize that I expressed my incredulation because it WAS on the radio. I am familiar with the concept of the "remix." This, please, cannot be that.[/quote]
I'm pretty sure someone, somewhere, somehow posted an edited 3rd blind song on this BBS, I remember sending it to people and then having to recant.

Both oink and slsk don't have Blümchen, so it's a tie so far.
Good point Bobby!

Only a chick could equate looking at porn to cheating. Only a hypocritical chick could look at pictures of women and still make that dig.

Au contraire. Only a guy who still had outdated notions of women and porn would take glee in that sort of putting one over on her. It has nothing to do with the porn, just the delight in subterfuge.

I've gone on record as not even considering dating a guy unless he had a stash.

Yes, it is time to let this first part go.

Whatever, maybe the entire "I GOT BANNED! *HIGH FIVE* NT" thing was entirely in my head.
I called my own shot. That's all.

Just the opposite! My behavior hasn't changed, it's just that with torrents, I can help while being a worthless leecher.

I'm glad you're reading this like it's a pro-asshole argument, rather than a 'don't explicity deny yourself every service anyone you disagree with provides based on some petty sherwin-ethical stand' argument. It's totally the former.
Here's what it comes down to.

I personally won't suffer fools, even if they have something I might want. I feel I should be clever and resourceful enough to get music without having to cotton to a bunch of losers who I am quantifiably better than in every single respect.

I've been fortunate, don't get me wrong, but I have also gone out and worked hard at times to get where I am today. I have a great life. I'm really happy with it. I know I'm a better person than anyone running a British MP3 torrent site, simply because any kind of person who is better than me doesn't have time to run a torrent site.

So that's where it all begins to dissolve. I'm a great person, well centered and very happy. I should get access to music torrents because I'm so awesome, and every community should recognize that intrinsically. If they don't and then go out and BAN me, well, I find them worthless. Especially since banning me implies that their service is so valuable that I had better act straight (ha, ha) and be a good boy and not piss them off. I don't care if I piss them off. It made some retard in England shake with impotent rage that... that... sputum... here is this wretched new guy who didn't... gasp.... seed his torrents!!! Wow, he showed me! I managed to get every single album I was interested in, even though I no longer have access to http://oink.me.uk/ . Oink (I'm not writing "OiNK") thinks they are the only game in town or something. Plus... who fucking gives a shit about RATIOS?!?!?!?!?!?!

Come on, Worm! These stupid maggots CARE ABOUT RATIOS. Maybe it's just me, but when you get to be my age you have open contempt for something as dumb as a RATIO. Give me a freaking break. Don't you see how they are little self-important dictators over stolen content? Why can't you hate them for that?

If I can download from oink, never think about my ratio, and be perfectly fine, great for me, right?
Well, sure. The only argument I would make fun of you for is if you tried to say that ratios were a good idea which, being intelligent than 100% of the people who run Oink, you wouldn't. I'm glad you can get the stuff you want and I'm thrilled you're not paying for music.

I'm pretty sure someone, somewhere, somehow posted an edited 3rd blind song on this BBS, I remember sending it to people and then having to recant.
"When I See You", radio edit, by Third Eye Blind is the terrible song in question that was played over the radio, at least in Colorado. There are other versions of that song, but the only one I've ever heard played was the one that repeat itself for three minutes.

It's not glee so much as understanding that it makes her insecure. As we all know, chicks don't make much sense, she's fine with looking at all-woman porn by herself or with me but freaks out if I look at nude pictures of women by myself. Who the fuck knows, but all I know is I ain't arguing about it with her.

Well, chief, why even register then?
:( So this is still about you pretending to be some kind of revolutionary right?
Just the opposite! My behavior hasn't changed, it's just that with torrents, I can help while being a worthless leecher.
I really don't see why you have such a mental block about seeding the files. You know when you go to download something off bittorrent, torrentspy, or empornium and no one is seeding it? Well, that's your fault. What's the big problem about seeding 16 things that no one wants to download. Well, here's where it gets a bit tricky, the Internet is big. People will sporadically download one of those 16 things and it will help your ratio.
I'm glad you're reading this like it's a pro-asshole argument, rather than a 'don't explicity deny yourself every service anyone you disagree with provides based on some petty sherwin-ethical stand' argument. It's totally the former.

Really, what song was playing your head when you typed this fucking shit? Did you imagine pyrotechnics?
who fucking gives a shit about RATIOS?!?!?!?!?!?!
Not me and not any of the other people I invited who maintain ratios from .4(the lowest I think) to 1.0.
Because I can get full Albums, all in the same birate, usually with perfect IDv3 tags (which is how my nomad organizes the shit), all usually at 100+kb/s.
If I can download from oink, never think about my ratio, and be perfectly fine, great for me, right?

:( Fuck, I understand math man. I know that the only people who should be banned from Torrent sites are the ones who never upload a megabyte, even then people shouldn't get so worked up over the just allocation of stolen data.
I'm pretty sure someone, somewhere, somehow posted an edited 3rd blind song on this BBS, I remember sending it to people and then having to recant.

Huh? I'm arguing that ICJ's 'take no prisoners while on the Internet' moral stance against possibly the best place to get full albums of music is absurd. My opinion on oink is completely removed from the argument, even though it's previously stated.

What, smelly and covered in mildew? Ew.

Shaggy and absorbent? Possibly slightly less ew.

Sixteen bucks at Bed, Bath and Beyond? Heh. Kinda nonsensical, but heh.

Covered in a garish four-color Pac-Man print? Oh, wait, those are Robb's towels.

Andrew Lack, the guy behind the rootkits, has to switch jobs with anothe overpaid, worthless plutocrat at Sony.
Sony BMG Names New CEO to Replace Lack

Sony BMG Music Entertainment Names Rolf Schmidt-Holtz As Its New CEO to Replace Andrew Lack

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- The chief executive and chairman of the board are trading hats in a shake-up at Sony BMG Music Entertainment, the powerhouse record company behind such pop stars as Britney Spears, OutKast and Travis Tritt.
Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, who had been chairman, is replacing CEO Andrew Lack, who becomes chairman of the board. The swap, announced Friday and effective immediately, follows months of criticism of Lack's tenure as CEO, including investor discontent over spiraling fees paid to artists and a scandal over copy protection software in Sony CDs.

The unit was formed after Sony Music Entertainment and BMG, the music unit of Guetersloh, Germany-based Bertelsmann, formally combined their businesses. Sony and Bertelsmann each own half of the company.

Following the change, Schmidt-Holtz will assume overall management responsibility, while Lack "will lead the company's public policy and industry initiatives, and assume operating responsibility and oversight for the theatrical film business of Sony BMG," a joint statement said.

"I am extremely pleased to take on this new leadership role with the company and to continue to help Sony BMG accelerate its tremendous growth and performance," Lack said. "Rolf and I are fortunate to have a roster of extraordinary artists and a top-notch team of creative executives around the world."

The company operates several labels, including Columbia, RCA, Jive and LaFace, and its artist roster features Aerosmith, Jessica Simpson and Alicia Keys, among others.

Schmidt-Holtz was BMG's chief executive from 2001 until the merger in mid-2004 and has been chairman of the merged company's board since then. He will relocate to New York and will take up oversight of Sony BMG's theatrical film business.

Because of the swap, he resigned from Bertelsmann's executive board, the company said.

"With this management change Rolf and Andy are now aligned in positions that will take advantage of the significant progress the company has already made, as well as their formidable business skills and respective management experiences," Sony Chairman and CEO Howard Stringer said.

Bertelsmann CEO Gunter Thielen said Schmidt-Holtz "has impressively proven his flair for the creative and economic aspects of success in the music business."

Blah, blah, blah. Same shit, different assfaces spewing it. FFI does the rootkit for SOny, SunComm makes the spyware for Sony, EMI sues some British record company for daring to release out-of-print radio recordings into the public domain, EMI tries to fuck over royalties with the *Beatles*, it's the same shit all over, jsut different names on it. One worthlessly corrupt corporate dickhead gets shuffled over to somewhere else and gets replaced by another worthlessly corrupt corporate dickhead. Wake me when they lower the costs of CDs by, oh, half.
