Marvel Heading Back to their previous issue numbers

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

Marvel are to return "Fantastic Four" back to its original renumbering (bearing in mind volumes 2 and 3), with issue 500.

Joe Quesada has mentioned before how much he'd like to return issues to their "proper" numbering. With the likes of "Amazing Spider-Man," "Avengers" and "Daredevil" also getting close to that figure, this may become a regular event in the months to come.

Restarting them at #1 was SO goddamn retarded. Everyone involved in that decision really doesn't deserve to ever work in the industry.

It really bugs me when changes are made in the comics industry that will so *obviously* be undone at a later date. Attempts to change costumes of characters who have been part of the public consciousness is one, but something like this renumber thing... that was just ridiculously stupid.

It's really just Marvel attempting to get themselves added sales for the "renumbered" #1 as well as FF's 500th. Anything but actually improving the quality of the books, I guess.

Agreed.

I think the cancellations and renumbering were a monumental mistake and were terribly short-sighted. The renumbering, and probably the un-renumbering are aimed at one thing: to generate a short sales spike.

Hey, 21 issues later they can revert back to the new numbering to celebrate #100!

Hahah. How great would that be if they did that? They could just keep shuffling between the old numbers and the new ones and promote them whenever a meaningless "milestone" was coming up.

I generally like Mark Waid's comics, so when I say that they could up the quality of the books, I am speaking in general terms. I never liked the FF, though, so I'm really not up for making the investment.

In other news, it looks like Black Panther is to be cancelled sometime soon (I can't recall the exact number, I think it's like #63). Pisser. It was (is) a good book.

What an odd looking Dr. Doom.

Hmm. Seems Black Panther #64 is indicated to be the last issue. You get one extra issue of grim, gritty urban adventure, minus T'Challa, Robb!

They're also canning Thunderbolts at #81. Too bad Marvel didn't cancel it before it degraded into, well... whatever the hell it is now.

And yet that series Marville is still making it's way to the shelves... written by Jemas himself. Unbelieveable!! Oh well, can't sack the boss now can we? No matter how bad a writer he is. Perhaps he and Howard Mackie can team up and utterly ruin the entire Marvel line. After all, who needs people like Priest and Peter David?

Actually, it looks as though Marville will end with issue #7.

GOOD.
