Re: I can't believe Tdarcos outlived....
One of my Mom's ancient biddy friends paid me twenty bucks to convert all her old reel-to-reel tapes to cassette so she could listen to them in the modern world. One of them was Jim Nabor's Greatest Hits. Up until that moment I had no idea that he even sang, much less had greatest hits. I verified the audio quality and then took the headphones off.

Well, he would sing "Back Home Again in Indiana" before the race, for like a hundred straight years.

I guess I'm not an indy 500 guy. I never ever knew this existed. Why'd they pick him instead of...anyone else?

Re: I can't believe Tdarcos outlived....
I hate this. I grew up on Mad Magazine and every so often a subject comes up that sparks an image I saw in Mad. I want to post it here (or anywhere!) Do you think I could find it? Not to save my life.
I clearly remember a picture in Mad that showed a pile of record albums and the top one was 'Jim Nabors Sings Rock'. This would be the perfect time and place for me to post that drawing. The problem is that it wasn't the focus of the panel, it was sort of incidental to the joke. The only way for me to find it and scan it would be to go through every Mad magazine in my collection. That isn't gonna happen.
This sort of memory spark has happened at least a dozen times now. It drives me crazy for a day or so and then I forget it until the next time. But right now it's AAAAARRRGH!

Great question!AArdvark wrote: Fri Dec 01, 2017 5:58 pm I guess I'm not an indy 500 guy. I never ever knew this existed. Why'd they pick him instead of...anyone else?
Apparently they always had random celebrities come in and do it, and Jim Nabors was the choice in 1972, but after he did it, they just let him keep the job, because, well... because he did it the best.

OOOOOooooo. Before I investigate, I wanna guess.
Suicide, right? I mean, it's that or drugs, but suicide is such a COOL way for a porn star to go out. LOOKIN' IT UP.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHh. God DAMN am I good at this game.
(The game being, "Guess How This Porn Star Died".)

I was just referring to it as an interview in general, it was very cliché.Jizaboz wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2017 8:25 amJolt Country's resident expert on porn star interviews, everyone.
